The RYLA 2024 program was held in Caldas da Rainha from April 3 to 5. The event, perfectly organized by the Rotary Club of Caldas da Rainha under the leadership of its president Helia Silva, was a great success, with 14 young people taking part.
RYLAs are intensive 3 to 10-day training programs for young people aged 14 to 30, organized by Rotarians, usually in the form of seminars, camps or workshops on various subjects. A RYLA can be organized to train high school students in leadership, to reinforce students’ problem-solving skills, or to raise ethical awareness among young professionals.
The RYLA program is first and foremost a fun leadership training program organized by Rotary clubs or districts.
RYLA aims to meet local and international decision-makers to :
- learn to communicate and solve problems
- discover how to become a leader in your school or town
- learn from local decision-makers, inspirational speakers and mentors
- unlock your potential and take action
- have fun and make lasting friendships
RYLA stands for Rotary Young Leaders Award.
Rotary Atlântico sponsored a lovely young girl, Lia Ribeiro. Lia is 15 years old, and for her and her classmates, according to their many comments, the experience was unforgettable.
I didn’t realize the impact such an event could have, and I must say I was impressed. I felt that a good number of the young people who took part had really developed a sense of self-confidence, and we can now discern in some of them qualities that will be useful to them in the future.
