Who We Are
We are Portuguese by origin or Portuguese by adoption — expatriates, in a word, who have chosen to call this country “home.” Many of us came here also looking for a way to join forces and make the world we live in a little better. That’s what led us to Rotary International, one of the most active global organizations working toward exactly that goal, uniting more than 1.2 million members around shared ideals. ❤️
Why This Club Exists
Like every Rotary club, our mission is to help, serve, and act — carrying out projects at the local, regional, national, or international level, backed by the full strength of Rotary International, its resources, and its network.
Our ambition is to keep growing a community of doers — people ready to roll up their sleeves and find their place in a cause bigger than any one of us: End Plastic Soup Portugal.What Makes Us Different
This club carries an additional calling: to unite goodwill that transcends nationality. Too often, language becomes an obstacle for those who speak little or none of their host country’s language — and too often, the solution is to simply impose one language over all others. We wanted something different.
Here, every member can communicate in whichever language feels most natural to them — most often we speak in English or French, since we are, after all, a community of expats. Camaraderie and goodwill carry the rest, making communication easier and more comfortable, and preventing the isolation that language barriers so often create. Portuguese, English, French, German, Spanish — there will always be someone ready to translate and help.
This multicultural, international character isn’t just a value we hold — it’s an asset. It draws members with a rich range of experience and perspective, all of which strengthens the projects we take on together.
